Hi all
me again having spent another day dismantling the engine on my lovely 1969 ca, have discovered i really need a new carb, called George at burlen fuel systems who was very helpful and can recondition mine but wondered if anyone had an old new stock ? its a zenith 34 IV 24 bore. Also discovered the incredible Howard at collectors car parts near heathrow, a real Aladdins cave of classic car parts, great place to go when you are not in a hurry. I got almost everything except the 4 exhaust valves i needed ,the engine mounts and the carb(he did have a 34IV 26bore ONS if anyone needs one), so let me know if you have any leads, I am hoping the list will stop growing cheers jera[attachment=0:1suyp9nb]Bedford Dormobile 001.jpg[/attachment:1suyp9nb]

My Dormobile (1600cc) has its carb changed with a Weber 34 ICH in a previous life and it runs very well. Moreover the Weber carb can be found quite easily.January 11, 2010 at 6:43 pm #2810Hi
I have fitted a 1600 engine that I reconditioned which runs perfectly but was originally fitted with the 1500
just came back from filming up in the north of Scotland for a week traveling over 500 miles
I am looking for a couple of engine mounts

cheers jeraJanuary 15, 2010 at 1:48 pm #2812Hi Jera
I too have converted my CA 1598cc to run on a weber 34 ich. The old Zenith suffered badly from warping of the emulsion block casting that fits on top of the float housing. I assume it was years of heat from the exhaust that caused it. The weber only required a small modification of the throttle lever to make it fit and a sleeve placed in the air cleaner to reduce the diameter. The only downside was the air cleaner sat in a slightly diferent place and clearence to the top of the footwell was poor. It sometimes knocked if not installed in just the right place. General running was fine although in very cold damp weather it does ice up. The only other problem was fuel vaporization with a hot engine on re-start. This only started after using un-leaded fuel (hardened valve seats fitted) and one day i will get round to insulating the metal fuel line that runs along the side of the rocker cover and see if it helps. I found Gosney’s 01708 740668 very helpful in supplying some exhaust valves.
Hope this helps
Regards JohnJanuary 19, 2010 at 7:20 pm #2813Thanks for that John all information is helpful especially as we are learning on the job, I have ended up buying another van for parts so now have 2 duff carbs, hopefully I will get one good one out of the pair of them! cheers Jera
