    Hi Everyone,

Well Bitsey has done us proud and completed here 800 mile round trip down to cornwall with only 1 small hiccup, that being the exhaust has sheared away at the manifold, which meant the last 100 miles were very noisy. Well now that my ears have stopped ringing I need to get this fixed, I have seen a couple of stainless exhausts on ebay and wondered if anyone had fitted one and was there any recommendations out there?

    Hi Dave,

I did take the motorways, running the new engine in for the trip down there, (took 10 hours) but the gloves were off for the journey home which only took 6 hours. she was quite happy cruising along at 60/65, I think she will go faster but I will replace all the tires and put stiffer shocks in before that! Route was A14, M42, M5 and the A30. it was a bit horrible on the way down, being overtaken by lorries and such but I had no problems, even when slowly creeping in traffic up a hill, no temperature rises or loss of oil pressure, so it looks like all the hard work on the engine was worth it. I almost had a tear in my eye when by pure timing she reset her clock. so back to 000000! I was looking at the same exhaust on evilbay so thanks for the recommendation.

I bought a stainless exhaust off eBay from Adrian Bailey Classics.
You can find the web address on my Bedford CA website, http://www.bedford-ca.com

I’ve been fairly happy with this exhaust, it’s nice quality, but I’m not quite convinced the sound is right. It makes the Bedford sound a bit more throaty and rough than I remember from my childhood. There was a guy selling another reproduction stainless exhaust with all the original baffles on eBay. I don’t know if it was any better, and I haven’t seen his ad in a long time, but it might be worth a try if you can find it. Anyone know him?

    Best regards
