Hi Carl,
I am the proud new owner of the Deauville, already named “bitsy”! We are collecting her on saturday and look forward to bringing her back up to her former glory (with maybe some subtle modifications). We plan to use this as our regular campervan, certainly not just stored and polished from time to time. It would be interesting if you have any pictures of the inside of your dorma, especially if you have an original interior, there certainly doesn’t seem to be too much information about the deauville about.
look forward to chatting with you.

August 13, 2009 at 10:32 pm #2022Hi stu
I think you got a bit of a bargain there!I bet you were as pleased as me to see the blue one make £3850.
I’m off to N Yorks Moors in mine, for a fortnight, tomorrow, but I’ll post pics when I get back.
To be honest, though, your interior looks pretty complete. I’ve even noticed a panel, next to the Easicool, that’s missing on mine.
August 14, 2009 at 8:06 pm #2023Hi carl,
We are very excited, it really was a spur of the moment thing, have a very reliable mazda bongo camper at the mo but fell in love with my mates 1950 caravan. fancied going a bit retro, didn’t want a VW (plus for that kind of money you would get a rust bucket!) just browsed campers in ebay, saw it, went around for a quick look and fell in love. No idea what it is actually worth, what parts are like, what its like to run one of these, just looking forward the the “adventure”!
Have a great time on the Moors and look forward to comparing notes when you get back.
ps, we are in the northampton area if you would like to pop around on your way back for a brew?
September 16, 2009 at 11:54 am #2024Hi Carl,
How was the trip? I hope you made it back okay. I might need to have a look at your deauville later on this year, just as a reminder where i have to put all the pieces back together again! lol! just managed to get the engine out for a rebuild, she looks quite solid apart from the front wheel arches (not a great surprise!) and hopefully i will have her back on the road before xmas.

September 16, 2009 at 8:32 pm #2025Trip was great!
700 miles without a problem and couldn’t resist this shot:
She’s got one last trip down to Battle at the end of the month then it’s into the garage for some winter tlc.
September 16, 2009 at 8:43 pm #2026Great photo Carl, just a shame there is people in the back ground, but I know how busy that place can be. I bet it got some jelous looks. Have you any more?
September 17, 2009 at 11:23 am #2027None of Goathland, it was far too busy and you’re not really allowed to park up anywhere.
This was up on the moors, though:

September 19, 2009 at 9:21 pm #2028hi carl photos look grate as dose the van . how is the van for sleeping in as i have not sleep in mine yet
thanks for putting me on the right track with my photos daveSeptember 19, 2009 at 10:29 pm #2029The van is great for sleeping in except for the first night, before we bought the self-inflating mattress, from Go-outdoors.
You can feel every hinge, lump, bump and spring, on the seats, until the mattress makes them all go away.
My eldest son (7) loves his bunk, “upstairs” but psycho-son (nearly 3) can’t be trusted up there, yet, so he’s in with us, at the moment.
The awning is absolutely essential, for the toilet, clothes and all the tat that you need, with kids, especially as we prefer the tiny sites, with limited facilities.

😆 😆 mines 17 Carl, I know what you mean 😀 😀
Pictures look great, thanks for sharing them, your van looks very original and honest. I can’t wait to get my van painted this winter. I have a few more bits and pieces to prep, then it should be ready for the colour. 😀
September 23, 2009 at 9:36 am #2031Hi Carl,
The photos look great, can’t wait to get mine on the road. the waterpump blew on her maiden voyage back to our house, she has 100k on the clock so I decided to go for the full engine rebuild and get her ready for another 100k or 45 years of use! have you got any pictures of the inside? because there is nothing (in colour) that shows what the interior should be like. Still haven’t decided between “full historical restoration” or “updating to our tastes (in keeping)”, well that can all wait until the engine is back in!

September 23, 2009 at 9:18 pm #2032Hi, The photos look great! can’t wait until I get mine on the road. Got involved with doing bodywork on mine while I was waiting for wheels to come back from being powdercoated by a mate. So….. looks like my 1 month turn around will now take all winter- only wanted to get mechanicals good and MOT this year!! Managed to go one better than Dave though…. and have slept in mine a couple of nights, albeit in the safety of the workshop. Well I didn’t want “Gerty” getting lonely on her own, with just 2 minis for company did I?!! Andy
