Just a quick email to recommend this unit.
I have now fitted it to 2 Bedfords, a 1960 Mark 1 (converted to negative earth) and a 1969 mark 2
The kit takes about 10 mins to fit, and works !!!
Only thing that puzzled me for a while, the kit required a wire on the positive and negative on the coil, the positive wire is just the supply (ignition live feed) to power the unit – the negative is the “switching” wire that replaces the points.All the old bits fit in a small box, should the unit fail, you can swap back to points in about 15 mins!
No more buggering around with points and worn cam lobes !!!
May 8, 2011 at 9:44 pm #3990I second this. I fitted mine a few weeks back and as Russell says, took 10mins to fit and works perfect. It’s only £30 as well.
May 9, 2011 at 4:55 pm #3991I saw that on Fleabay and was wondering if it deserves to be bought?
Better starting? Better MPG? Both?
Did you buy them from Fleabay?May 9, 2011 at 6:58 pm #3992May 9, 2011 at 7:57 pm #3993I think the idle is a little smoother, don’t know about the mpg – but the main reason is the fit and forget, a set of points & condensor is a fiver now – points and condensors have given me loads of bother in the past
May 9, 2011 at 8:03 pm #3994hi all

June 18, 2011 at 11:34 pm #3996Does the Bedford have to be converted to negative earth first?
June 21, 2011 at 8:27 pm #3997Yes it does Colin. Luckily my van was already converted when I got hold of it. You can find the kit details here;
June 22, 2011 at 7:37 am #3998Yes it does have to be negative earth, and it will work with CA’s from 1960 (accuspark show 1966 ca2’s onwards – but I have fit one to an earlier ca once converted to negative earth) – Pre 1960 ca’s had a different distributor and therefore won’t work.
