I have recently purchased a new old stock replacement gearbox for my 66 Bedford. Have come accross a slight problem: –
The prop shaft will not fit to the spline of the gear box. 😕 Does this mean it is an earlier box and I need to change the end of the prop shaft?
If so does anyone have or know of anyone that has a new end?

      Hi.

I don’t know the answer to this one, but I have both an early 3 speed ‘box (’60) and later 4 speed (’65) ‘box in my workshop, so I can check for you this evening. I was under the impression that you could swap them straight across…. although the clutches are different…

      I’ll let you know….

Well. I tried the propshaft from a ’60 dormobile into the output shaft on a later 4 speed gearbox and it DID fit, so I’m not quite sure why yours wouldn’t. I don’t have any later propshafts to try on the 3 speed ‘box, although I suspect there won’t be an probs that way round either 😕

Thanks for that Andy….I’m baffled 😕
