    Hi MIck,

My 1969 Dormobile has confusing origins and may not have the original seatbox. It had no toolboxes at all. Each underseat opening had a view to Mother Earth (except the far left, which had a battery of course). Each had a normal cover that was cut a bit to fit under the Dormobile seat frames.

I also had to remove the seat to replace the gas bottles. But to turn them on/off I could crawl underneath the car.

My “new” vehicle that’s nearly completely converted to a Dormobile, now, is left-hand drive, so the front seats are switched. I can lean the passenger (right-hand) seat back all the way for better access to the gas bottles. It’s easier than removing the driver’s seat on the old RHD, but the access to the hatch is not as good.

There is a toolbox under both the center and righthand seats. To have enough clearance for the toolbox under the right seat, the PO moved the fuel pump over to the sill. But now the fuel pump is in the way of the gas bottles, and there’s no easy way to get 2 gas bottles into the cage. As yet I only have 2kg CampingGaz bottles, and it works just barely. But if I want to put in proper large gas bottles, I might have to put the fuel pump in its original location and lose the toolbox.

With the center toolbox, it’s a pain to check and refill the overdrive!
