Top of Forum Technical Bedford Seat Covers? Re: Re: Seat Covers?

Just thought I would carefully remove the covers off the worst seat.
The frame underneath is a bit corroded so the material has rotten in places 🙁 . I guess that being dry- stored for over 20 years must have taken its toll….
The covers don’t actually look TOO difficult to replicate. Has anyone on the forum had a go? Any tips would be appreciated. Found some upholstery leatherette on Ebay and some piping. Also found a book on automotive upholstery. Anyone read it? Do you know if it’s necessary to re-use the original sprung seat backs/ squabs as these seem to be the problem with the rust/ rot. Reckon I could just use 3″ thick foam instead, as modern settees etc aren’t sprung are they? Anyhow….. back to the workshop 🙂
