well its bee a while since I came on here, the Roma is amazingly still with me and has sat untouched for a couple of years due to promises of parts that never arrived and new work commitments etc, this year is going to be his year though, either make or break so to speak.. So where did I get to?
A full stripdown of the van revealed the true horror of the corrosion present.. I had to step back take a very deep breath and then decide as to wether or not it was savable.. after viewing 4 other HA vans with a view to using their bodies to recreate the roma I came to the conclusion they all rot in the same places.. just mine hadnt been bodged..
in the last issue of the magazine I recieved before my membership lapsed (sorry Allan) I had just got to the point where I had removed the front end of the van
this had revealed bodgery of horrific proportions on the front rails in the past at some point
that was “as found” it had been filled with fibreglass
the other side
im hoping the front end of a car is winging its way to me as we speak, I know I can only use the lower parts as the screen aperture, door apertures are all unique between van and car but it should provide the inner wings, front panel and a few other bits
