    Hi Mick,

I have to laugh as we encounter different questions of the same type on our tired old Dormobiles. Here’s my answer to your gas bottle cage question and a thousand other things I have questions on. We can hold each other’s hands maybe:

    – My gas bottle cage was mounted level with the chassis rails, but only the rear was mounted on the original spot.

EDIT: no new holes need be drilled for the rear of the bottle cage: the rear holes are the same ones mounting the body to the frame. The 1/4″ bolts are a bit longer than normal, though.

The front was bolted and welded to a fuel tank outrigger, since the chassis is from a 3-door. See the report on Michel’s Dormobile for good pictures that show it parallel to the bottom of the chassis rails

    – To your other post, I don’t have original curtains, but the ones I have are attached by a thread running through the tops which hooks onto the sliders, so they are easy to remove and wash. The summary on TeriAnn’s site is helpful. I’ll either do sometihng in champagne/light yellow or else something just silly, like something printed with little S2’s or some greasy fingerprints. Depends on what the wife/kids want. I have considered fire retardant fabric to be important, though.

    – I’ve had to remake the mounting plates for the knobs on the front seatbox but I’m still in need of 2 knobs with screws attached –> the two in the vehicle are replaced with studs which are in fact 3/8″ bicycle axles, even bolted in using the original bicycle axle fixings and the wheel bearing cone as a nut!

    – My gas hose for the stove/cooker goes through the floor outside of the cooker cabinet and then enters the cabinet via a large hole by the sink. The hole is very nicely cut, so I assumed it was original, but I haven’t seen it in pictures of other Dormobiles. I don’t know that this is normal? Where is the hole in the floor supposed to be?

-I’ve now removed my rear seats, but I don’t know how to remove the small cup fixtures in the floor for the pin in the seat. I’ve soaked them in penetrating oil but I’m not sure if they’ll just pry (prise) out? I can’t see them from under the vehicle because they’re just over a support channel for the tub, so I won’t be able to pound them out from below. How do these come out (without damaging them)?

I’ll definitely be asking more and trying to help where I can —

    Jeremy
