The gauge has 2 connections , a live (green) in and an “earth” out (green / blue ) to the sensor , so it should be the green and blue to change. If you disconect the wire from sensor the gauge should read cold , if it doessn’t it sugests faulty wire If you convinced the gauge and the sensor are ok then that only leaves the wiring
