roof vent fitting problem

roof vent fitting problem

Postby AlexB on Sat Feb 20, 2010 4:39 pm

Fitted my replacement roof vent this morning and I think I have found out why dormobile fit 2 handles / fasteners.
The original is slightly convex and the reproduction one is straight which means the single fastner - which is in the middle - doesn't.

Any one else had this problem and if so, how did you solve it?

Not too sure if adjusting where the fastner is bolted to the vent might make a difference

HI Alex

I fitted a new vent to Barney with no problems. The hole in the roof was cut flat by the factory and the vent fitted very well onto the new seal I fitted. I have never know it to leak. Just wish I could get the windows to stop dripping,

I'm sure the two fasteners on brand new roofs are more to do with the increased speed of modern vehicle, than anything else.

Cheers Mick

Hi Mick,

I changed the vent too with no problem at all ; I can't find however the adequate seal, would you have a name for me?
Thanks,
Kind regards,

uh, that was quick - Many thanks, I should have thought about that one myself
Otherwise, I was thinking of heading towards caravan/motorhome people with my piece of shabby original seal...
Kind regards

HI Marc

As said by Alex, Dormobile do the seal. The seal looks odd when you see it, but it seams to work. It's glued on to the fibreglass lip.

All the best
