What are they worth?

Postby mrjamesledger on Sat Jul 07, 2007 8:39 pm

Being new to dormobiles I'm finding it quite difficult to work-out what I should be paying for one. If you want a VW then you're okay as there are enough of those on the market to gauge their worth. It seems a lot more tricky for the rest though - Bedfords, Commers etc. Does anyone know if any magazines or websites publish a price-guide?
For example - I've seen a lovely Bedford CA 1964, everything intact, everything working, doesn't seem to have any problems at all, no structural rot that I can see, and very little cosmetic rust... how much should something like that be? Any help on this would be great!
Cheers.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.....that's a very good question, demand is low for these vehicles so prices reflect this, it means you can pick up a real bargin. A fully restored CA Romany, no rot, original etc etc, would be valued at £5000 for insurance purposes, but it's worth what you're prepared to pay for it on the open market.

Sorry I can't be more specific.

Hi,
As for land rover dormobiles, it ranges from under a grand for a project involving a new chassis to 10 grand for a fully restored specimen, see ebay last week,
I agree with Jonny, it is a willing to sell Vs a willing to pay story, too narrow a market, that is the beauty of it!
